MSEB is the most visible of govt. related services that citizens enjoy. Consequently, it should be most proactive in providing efficient and fairly priced service. I am sorry to say that frequent disconnections of power is number one problem even after 70 yrs of independence. Secondly, the state of MSEB offices is pathetic. A person can run pillar to post for hours, and come away without getting concrete results on his/her problem. The attitude of people working there is also pathetic. In most countries normally a citizen should not even to visit the Electricity dept. Everything should happen on the phone, or online. I had ICICIBANK account through which I used to pay MSEB bills online. The account is closed many years ago. I am paying through HDFC BANK account online now but the bills still go to ICICI which keeps sending me SMSs. Even if the bank officials are negligent, I should be able to disconnect that billing somehow. But everytime I visited my local MSEB office, it seemed like such an involved process requiring particular person, form filling etc. that I have given up. This is, in my mind, the most shameful dept. run by the most inept people. Get some consultants to show you guys how to run a govt service!
