BMC has failed miserably to regulate parking in Mumbai. Slum dwellers occupy land for their livelyhood in some areas of Mumbai but rich/middle class occupy roads on both sides all over Mumbai causing inconvenience to everyone - walkers, vehicles etc. I don't know why can't BMC charge the vehicles for occupying public road? Just the fear of losing votes is making political parties failure to govern the cities well. This causes frustration amoung people.
The roads and the parking places do not increase but every day more than 400 vehicles get registered. Building permissions are granted even for narrow approach roads without making a sufficient visitors and owners parking places compulsory. The city is an ocean of vehicles and the potholes add to the misery of citizens but babus in MCGB have ears that hear but do not listen, eyes that look but do not see. They too commute as and when they do attend office. In monsoon the potholes and in other seasons the perpetual digging by different authorities make this city more like walking or driving on moon surface. Horrendous is the right word.
The traffic police are doing a fantastic job of maintaining the discipline of the traffic to the extent possible and need to be appreciated and commended much more.
