How do we define Law and Order. Does it only mean murder, theft, rape etc. In my view law and order index must be a measure of how effectively citizen are obeying the law thereby there is an order in the society. For this measure to be very high, citizen MUST feel need to obey law and Enforcement agencies MUST enforce law without fear or favour. If this criteria is applied in that case I would say that Law and Order in Mumbai is Average to below average . My rating based on the following based on my experience and the media reports. 1. Do we citizen follow traffic rules while driving or walking. Is police strict in enforcing traffic rules at all places. My experience is they probably do it well on main arterial roads but enforcement is very poor on roads inside localities. Offenders mostly two wheelers and rickshaws are not punished at all. They blatantly misbehave and people /drivers who follow the rules are the victims of delays and long wait. 2. Are police friendly with common man on street and when they visit the police station with any problem. They are not. People do not feel free to approach a policeman. 3. At one time in the past Mumbai police was rated better than Scotland Yard. Have they maintained same image.
I know that they are not solely responsible. Government is equally responsible for not filling vacancies, rampant political interference , sycophancy etc. I am very pessimistic of possibility of any improvement in my life time. .
Unresponsive and always try to get rid of there responsibility. I had the genuine reason to file the FIR but they completed the formality by writing the NCR. Criminals are walking free. I don't have complete trust on Mumbai police.
Mumbai police doing good job. They understand the common man and tackle issues accordingly. Recently experienced nice bandobast during GANESHA immersion. But many a times vehicle drivers and bike users take laws onto their hand - crossing road haphazardly neglecting signal, use shrill and strong horns. These menace needs to be tackled. Also auto drivers are very rude and drive rashly, refuse to be hired commonly.
A tempo belonging to unauthorized dosa stall (Rajubhai tempo) is parked 365x 24x7 exactly below no parking board opposite Bhaidas Hall, junction of Bhaidas Bhutta chowk, JVPD Scheme, Vile Parle (W), Mumbai-400056, <br/>Also vehicles are always parked under no parking boards in the lanes at Bhaidas Bhutta chowk, opposite Bhaidas Hall, JVPD Scheme, and non authorities are bothered to fine or tow the same.
