Signals are placed in a way that they are obscured by poles or hoardings or trees. Also some signals are for 5 seconds or so which is ridiculous. Traffic regulation is good when traffic police is present. Traffic police need to take care of their health as they work in worst conditions of heat, dust, noise etc.
Mumbai Traffic police is not effectively performing their duty . Complaints regarding Illegal parking is not at all dealt with , almost all problem of traffic jam is due to heavy duty vehicles are parked in NO PARKING , On wider roads vehicles parked parallel leaving mostly 1or 2 lanes for traffic. In spite of written complaints NO ACTION is taken by particular traffic police officers reason best known to them .
7 people in 1 rickshaw. Dont believe it, come to Akurli Road at Kandivali East during peak hours. It is an open secret ,all with the connivance of the traffic police. Get down from the rickshaw a few meters away from where the police are stationed, walk a few meters ahead and board the same rickshaw. The police is happy, the rickshawallahs are happy & the commuter has no choice due to shortage of rickshaws.Fat people are not allowed in these sharing rickshaws, until they pay double the fare, since four people have to be fitted in the rear seat.It has been going on for years.Only the blind must be unaware about it.
Traffic Police in Mumbai are the only one who help by pushing a vehicle which breaks down on the road causing obstruction. This is something unique. It is only because of police that traffic keeps on moving in spite of roads being occupied by Heavy Duty Vehicles e.g. Truck Mounted Concrete Mixers, Cranes, JCBs , Trucks, Trailers etc. In addition to managing traffic the police men are forced to inhale polluted air near the traffic signals for long hours which must be affecting their health. It is a well known fact that idling vehicles emit more pollutants.
