big buses are parked during busy hours of evening at the turning point of A.K.Road to Kondivita road, which causing traffic jams on main road at turning point.
Compared to other cities Mumbai traffic control is excellent. Advanced system like CCTV camera and sending traffic violations like cutting signal, Standing vehicle on Zebra crossing, over speed etc. through registered mobile is still not implemented in many signals. In our residential area, Vasant Complex CHS, Link Rd.,Mahavir Nagar, Kandivli (West) society open a new gate in a big congested signal and in spite of open space inside the Society (kept for other purpose) many vehicles are parking on the road create a big traffic hazard to pedestrians. 1)Many a traffic signals are not working.2)There are many hoardings in front of the signals, poles in front of the traffic signals, tree obstructing view of traffic signals. Maintenance of Traffic signals is very poor.Govt should hold some one by name responsible for this task and punish them.
Traffic police's job is to help regulate a smooth flow of traffic. Instead in Mumbai, either the traffic police is absent during crucial rush hours, or is hiding on the sides after a signal to catch errant drivers / signal jumpers to make some quick money. The other issue is heavy vehicles inke trucks on city roads during peak traffic hours. I wonder why they are allowed on roads at that time as even in smaller cities of other states they are banned. This leads to chaos on roads, more so, when metro construction work is on on major roads like WEH and Link Road. I think the solution lies in signals being made automatic based on rush hour traffic movement and traffic police should be present near the signals to install discipline among drivers. Moreover police vehicles themselves should lead by example by following traffic rules, as they are often seen grossly violating the rules.
Traffic conditions have worsened in the last one year (in Andheri west area ).Wrong side driving is rampant , more so with motor cycles. Very few drivers halt before the traffic signal lines. Parking / halting at bus stops by taxis and autos has become routine. All these can be effectively controlled with active involvement of trafic Police.Unfortunately this is not happening for whatever reasons. Most of the times trafic police are found hiding and waiting for a offender instead of being at the signal and controling the trafic.Drivers also need to be more responsible on the roads. Every body feels rules are for others.
