Currently after new commissioner TM there is improvement in garbage collection system in Nerul. Morning before 7.30 van to pick green waste comes, morning 10 - 11 we have wet garbage collection van and evening 4-5 dry garbage is collected. Hope this continues.
I am at Garoldianagar. Here the Garbage Pick up van comes only on alternate days. Most of the trees in the area were trimmed and the leaves and roots are dumped on the pavements on the roads. They are still lying uncleared, creating unbearable smell.
At Vashi, sector 15, Garbage collection is moderate, but because of overflowing or non compression of garbage properly, it spills around. at the same time the surrounding area of Garbage bins are not cleaned properly, it smells a lot. it becomes difficult to pass by the garbage bins. I request more awareness posters/placards are to be put every where. Also there are no garbage bins in the lanes at all. Earlier plastic wall mounting bins (I feel those were manufactured with re-cycled plastic) were provided but were not strong, hence broken fast.
The frequency & timings of the vans at sector 17 vashi is good. But the garbage spilling onto the roads due to overflowing from the vans has to be addressed urgently since this messes up the entire process. Also the garbage collectors ( boys / men ) need to be protected from the rains these days. I am sure the agencies involved in the exercise is doing something about this aspect. Tx.
