The Governments initiative to enable customers to without cash from Savings Account of any Post Office Branch was very good and helpful. But the post office staff are very uncooperative and rude. They refuse to help and tell us to go to the branch and withdrw cash where we have opened the Account. So we have to go to that particular branch even though it may far from our homes.
Rude behavior, inefficient staff, unrliable - that is the state of post offices in West Bengal in one word. The less discussed is better. We are disgusted. My wife and I had two SCSS joint accounts, with our retirement benifits, of Rs. 15 Lacs each. They deducted TDS but never uploaded to our Form 26AS. After we submitted our returns the total TDS amount for each of us was demanded by Income Tax department who will not accept the original form 16A since any enclosure was stopped. But since TDS was not uploaded we had to pay the tax again through Challan which amounted to Rs, 13,500 for each of us. Ufter moving from pillar to post for two years we received the refund but no interest for two years. I have all documentary evidence to prove it. Not only that, the ITO told us that our deducted tax was never deposited to Income Tax treasurey !! I have documentary evidence of that also. This is only one example of their calousness. I have many more.
On a better track, should work on speed post. Assisted email counter. Form filling. Uploading etc. Focus on new age retail banking, go for augmentation of man power, infrastructure, IT, connectivity and reach. Put properly calculated targets for each individual to qualify for next increment!
It is a fact that most of the Post Office staffers are not active like private courier service providers in dealing mails or dealing cash transaction like private banks. It may be because of lacadaisacle attitude on the part of management in controlling its staff owing to less pay structure or shortage of staff.

The Office of the Textile Commissioner was established in 1943 during the Second World War period for arranging the supply of cloth to the defence forces as well as civilian population. After the end of World War II, the Textile Commissioner was given the regulatory function of administering the prices, distribution and control of certain varieties of cloth meant for civilian consumption in the post-war conditions of scarcity.
