With lesser number of containers also cleanliness has improved. Certain places where people are not educated and over educated, they throw garbage out of container and make places dirty. Need to spot such places and keep one person so educate them / penalise them. After few months of this practise people will change. Let us hope for best !
Although Adar Poonawalla vans do come around and pick up some trash always accumulates. In one spot opposite Reliance Fresh I find even sewage is being dumped and it is stinking all the time. The garbage and the wet area is a breeding and feeding ground for pigs who further damage the surroundings.
When garbage containers were there, they used to overflow because of irregular pickup. Now they are not there, even then garbage piles up for weeks together. The result is unclean and unhealthy atmosphere. How are we going to get a smart city in Pune? People simply don't mind throwing out their homely garbage like unwanted pillows, cushions, commodes, wine bottles on the open places along the street. As soon a place is cleaned up by the PMC, the very next moment someone would come and dump some junks over there. It is as simple for them to clean up their homes. It really needs a change in our mindset. Unless every single individual thinks that it is my city and I am responsible to keep it clean, nothing is going to help. Our Corporators have a duty in this to meet every such area representatives and sensitize and seek their cooperation to maintain cleanliness.
Garbage management is very poor, Garbage is not collected daily, Garbage collectors gives priority to residents who pays them on monthly basis. Garbage collectors are impolite and arrogant. Stray dogs is very big problem, Sterilization of stray dogs is just on paper, It seems to me that Sterilization done is fake and needs investigation , They pick-up dogs, do not do proper Sterilization and then drop them in different area. Which causes severe dog fights in our area.
