Even after citizens segregating their wet and dry garbage, many places in WADGAONSHERI are used as dumping grounds. The reason being, the collectors do not come to the societies and many residential areas. Hence people resort to throw garbage at unallocated dumping places.

Citizens and PMC are equally responsible for garbage collection problems in Pune city. Citizens are now becoming aware of Green and yellow garbage classification. But their has to be further classification like glass material, tins, tree cuttings etc. and separate mechanism to be established for collection of classified material at different places. Depending on the urban density, facility of classified garbage collection is to be provided.
Few months back, I have seen good initiative by PMC. They have kept one person near garbage container to ensure that people put dry garbage in container only. This also avoids spilling of garbage outside of container. Mostly people throw the garbage from a distance because place around container is so bad. I also observed that stray garbage collectors make that place more shabby and hence they should be penalised.
