The service is pathetic and staff are unfriendly with 1 or 2 exceptions at the most in most of the branches. The migration of citizens to the private banks is basically due to the overbearing attitude of the Nationalized banks like State Bank of India, which is next only to RBI in terms of its maginitude of financial fortitude.

I have accounts in SBI, Salt Lake, Sector I (code: 01612) Branch, Kolkata-700 064, West Bengal. I have savings bank account with MOD (Multi-option fixed deposits) directly linked to my savings bank account. I can en-cash the sums in my MOD account at any time using the internet banking or cheque. ( I do not have SBI debit card. I do not want because of my past horrific experiences with the SBI debit card). The MODs are automatically created from any excess amount in my SB account for a tenure of one year. In May 2015, I applied for one such MOD to be converted for a tenure of 5 years and keep it linked to my SB account. The MOD with a tenure of 5 years was created by the SBI, but it was not linked to my SBI account for any time withdrawal in case of such need in a emergency. The SBI mislead me for months that it is linked to my SB account for any time withdrawal. In October 2015, when I insisted that if it be so, it shall appear as MOD balance during internet banking. After about another two weeks after several phone calls, SBI now clarifies that since the tenure is changed to 5 years and since I am getting senior citizen interest rate, it is not linked!!!
SBI considers that the senior citizen client, who is much more likely to require emergency access of his funds for his medical emergency, is not given the benefit!!!
I am having SBI credit card. If we will send mails for any problems like address change or card related mails, responses are very bad comparing to others.
I am having S /B , A/C in THIRUVANMIYUR ,CHENNAI BRANCH. Very GOOD service, Particularly in the PENSION SECTION one lady is servicing very patiently. EXCELLENT SERVICE. All the other services are also EXCELLENT. But on thing the present TOKEN SYSTEM has to be removed. OLD system is good.
i wanted to switch loan from HDFC to SBI. on 1st Oct they SMSed that they have sent my loan application. now one SBI person is asking " how to visit your house...which way it is, how far from there" Another person called up from Kilpauk that "you have to show the original document, no no no noh, you have to come here, yes yes you can send a person with those document"
The ATM / CDM in this branch has probably been 'Out of Order' for major part of the year. Any no. of complaints to the Chief Manager & the Authorities have not elicited any response .

In spite of complaining number of times including to its various senior officers about providing clear and transparent Statement of Accounts of FDRs since 2013, they are not taking any action. There are lot of discrepancies in statements of A/c and many more irregularities in keeping the Accounts.

In Bihar Sharif, there are 4 SBI branches. In none of them, GREEN CHANNEL works properly. Most of the days it remains fail. Even the day it works, you need to swipe twice or thrice or wait for luck. In the three banks, each have two Green Channel machine but they say only one may work, other is permanently non-functioning. And on that one you have to attempt your luck. Out of 20 to 25 tries, I've got only one day when it was working without any problem.
Very poor service and regard for customer. Even money in account in not safe. A forged cheque was encashed from my 80 year old mothers account and inspite of repeated efforts the Bank refused to act and reimburse her money ! And she has been a customer for nearly 30 years with the Bank.
