My son while studying in Manipal had opened a savings account there. It's almost 7 years since he left that place and went abroad while the account remained dormant. In spite of sending written requests by my son, SBI, Manipal has not acted upon to close the said account and send closure proceeds to the requested bank account in Bengaluru (all details such as address proof, ID proof, cancelled cheque etc., were sent). SBI expects that the person from Bengaluru has to visit the branch in Manipal in person to close and claim meager amount left in the account. The issue is lingering for past 4 months!

State Bank of India provides very good service to Senior Citizens as experienced after demonetisation. ATMs of SBI were first to provide 500 Rupee notes.

SBI Thousandlights: From attendee to cashier to accountant and chief manager, all helpful and courteous. Best in class among not only Public Sector but also Private Banks.

Canara Bank Nungambakkam. 40 years IG glorious association with them, proved always willing to help. But from day one of demonetization and after new staff arrived it is a dismal service. Long waits and poor back up from corporate and regional HO, ancient software, lack of team work and 10 day delays in cheque clearing. One or two good officers, especially in loan section compensate for all the bad.

Very courteous, cudtomer friendly, efficient staff with remarkable patience to answer queries. No difficulties encountered in banking transactions

Leadership of the branch matter a lot .It appears the leadership was weak
