Thiruvananthapuram, once a beautiful city has turned into one of the awkward city. Thanks for the great corporation and the state legislation. In fact I don't how the corporation can be so in effective. In fact as stated earlier no arrangement is there to collect any time of waste. Living in the state itself has become difficult.
No arrangements made after closure of Vilappilsala. Corporation and the Govt. are not inclined to find a solution to this health hazard. With number of flats coming up the situation already grave is going out of control.
To my knowledge there is no system of garbage collection anywhere in our city (Thiruvananthapuram). We find it extremely difficult to dispose non-bio-degradable waste. I am using my own composting mechanism to treat bio-degradable waste. The Corporation authorities are totally apathetic about this issue. They are very prompt in collecting taxes. Very sorry state of affairs, especially for a state capital.
Garbage collection in Peroorkada / Ambalamukku area is not effective. The fish mongers dirty the Ambalamukku junction area in the day time and the area stinks. At night the illegal mobile catering unit - Thattukada - dumps the food waste.
