Whatever Farhad Tarapore has posted, I agree with him a 100%. In the suburbs, especially between Bandra (West) and Santacruz (West), the vehicle population has increased a 1000% or more in the last 5 years, the Auto Rickshaws are immune to traffic laws and regulations, seems overtaking from the left is their birthright, jumping traffic lights, darting across cross roads and stopping in the middle of the roads, is a special permit that they have. To add to this chaos, the taxi aggregators like Ola and Uber have become a huge nuisance to us motorists. They stop in the middle of the roads, especially at corners to speak on their cell phones. The Traffic police needs to be more alert and vigilant, plus heavy fines has to be imposed on all with suspension of licences, especially of the auto rickshaw drivers.
Traffic is not at all controlled or managed in Mumbai. In the suburbs, autos drive like maniacs and break signals at their whim and fancy and no cop bothers to stop them. I have seen people on bike going helmetless, in the OPPOSITE direction and the cop just stands there. "No parking" signs are a total joke in the city since on every major road, big or small, there are cars, trucks, tempos and autos parked illegally at all times. Traffic police still use those outdated methods like towing cars and bikes instead of going digital and just giving challans to the illegally parked vehicles. They damage vehicles while being towed and don't even mention which police station the towed vehicle is being taken to. Pathetic is the word that comes to mind when considering the traffic situation in Mumbai. Car showrooms park their vehicles on the main roads and police does nothing because obviously they're paid up.
Neither police nor citizens are doing their duty. About 90% of the honking that goes on is due to lack of road manners by pedestrians. Irresponsible two wheelers are another cause for dangerous roads. Driving on the wrong side of the road, illegal parking, hawkers occupying sidewalks, people buying supplies from vendors in the market without getting out from their vehicles, arrogance and dadagiri, everything contributes to the situation we are in today. Result is that opportunistic policemen are making a fast buck at the cost of law and order.
traffic situation in mumbai is getting everyday, traffic department is equally responsible for that . we can see irregular parking at every corner in mumbai , i see double parking cevery day near by MAHANAGAR PALIKA'S headquater in mumbai, our corporater and department's vehicles are parked there and surprisingly traffic department can't see this, even same situation can be observed near police commissioner's office in mumbai, even bikes are parked on footpath, if they can't see the problem then to see the discipline in traffic is very difficult, all this happens because traffic department is shutting their eyes with what ever reason so
A tempo belonging to unauthorized dosa stall (Rajubhai tempo) is parked 365x 24x7 exactly below no parking board opposite Bhaidas Hall, junction of Bhaidas Bhutta chowk, JVPD Scheme, Vile Parle (W), Mumbai-400056, <br/>Also vehicles are always parked under no parking boards in the lanes at Bhaidas Bhutta chowk, opposite Bhaidas Hall, JVPD Scheme, and non authorities are bothered to fine or tow the same.
