Ghaziabad being the foremost industrial district in U.P., only after Gautam Budh Nagar (Noida & Greater Noida) is one of the most neglected in electricity services. The second most efficient city in line losses only after Noida is suffering from power cuts from 8 to 12 hours. Any strong wind, rain disrupts power supply for next 4-5 hours. Many tree near power lines are not trimmed at all in advance to obviate power cuts during strong winds and rains. Sometimes power bills are not delivered in time and printing of bills is on opposite side of printed paper or at wrong rows. Money is collected from poor people living in underprivileged colonies for laying power lines and bringing electricity to their houses. Inflated bills are not uncommon and rectifying them is difficult process. There should be the least power cut in Ghaziabad due to its strategic location in Delhi-NCR, foremost industrial city, least power line losses, many large residential, commercial and industrial complexes coming and being declared smart city among 100 locations, though no. 1 at the time of its formation in NCR towns now most laggard in NCR for further development, one of the main reasons being inadequate power supply, leading to shifting of industries and their owners to Noida, Delhi, nearby Uttarakhand industrial towns. The dream of smart city will not come true if power supply is not there for 24 hours every day.
