UPPCL in NOIDA. .... The problem is not of availability of power, but the improper DISTRIBUTION of Power. There are far too many local breakdowns, this only shows that PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE is Non-Existent. No maintenance personnel seen making checks. They come only, that too belatedly, when a breakdown occurs. The cause is incompetent ENGINEERS, OFFICIALS and even Workmen. They are least bothered about arranging for preventive checks and wait only for breakdowns.
FREQUENT OUTAGES for long periods. All Transformers are supposed to have provisions for isolation from the Mains, however, these connectors are not installed or non-functional. As a result, instead of isolating the Transformer for a specific small area and repairing the fault, the mains are switched off for the entire line from the Sub Station supplying the Sector or Sectors while a single Transformer covering part of a Sector is being repaired.
This refers to unscheduled outages of power supply in Sector 49, Noida. More than 4 to 5 hours of power cuts spread across the day & also at night is a big problem. In addition, sudden snapping of power when the wind blows or rain sets in are a routine occurrence. It is observed that overhead lines do not have separators; thus short circuiting resulting in damage to the connectors/ transformers is a routine feature. The Linemen who come for repairs use Bamboo strips as separators, which have a tendency to break when the wind blows. Why can't proper separators & insulators be provided to them from the stores to improve their quality of service?
