The Bullet Train is a great step forward. If we can do it without making an impact on the already fragile ecosystem and the forest cover of India it would be a great message to the world that India is serious about conservation. It is planned to fell 77 hectares of forest cover, the largest area ever to be felled for a single project in India. The biodiversity that will be lost cannot be calculated.
The Railways could build bridges over each forest stretch without felling any trees , keep the forest intact, and still have the bullet train.
Please sign this petition asking Hon. Minister for Railways, Mr. Piyush Goyal to build bridges over the forested areas and not destroy the forest for the Bullet train. A copy to Chief Conservator of Forests, Gujarat to give advice on the areas to be spared.

Make Railways BetterMay 03
It should be launched as a private sector company where it's complete cost should be recovered from the passengers using it. After all aren't there good speedy roads for which toll is collected by private companies till cost is recovered. So why shouldn't the same formula be applied to bullet trains.
Complete bullet train must be on flyover like system with fencing and least amount of land would need to be taken from public . Of course the nuisance of shitting on tracks, cattle or school buses or people crossing tracks or 'rail roko' agitation for reservation will also be then totally done away with. Better to be aware of the indian conditions of railway track misuses before running the bullet train on ground. more
