Request to remove extra loud Blaring Air Horns on RTC buses in city
The public is suffering from the extra loud Gas Horns fitted to RTC buses. Most RTC drivers use these horns indiscriminately for long periods causing great distress to the people on the roads and in adjacent homes. Many aged people are suffering greatly due to these horns.
Traffic experts have affirmed that horns on roads are meant for the human ear. The human ear will hear the horn on a motorcycle as clearly as a standard factory fitted horn on a Bus with equal clarity- There is no need to fit extra loud horns on RTC buses and the original company fitted horn is more than sufficient. That is the reason that most advanced countries Public Transport buses have only standard horns on them. It has to be observed that:
All Road Users in the city are equal and have to have a level playing field
which means that, as per law, there should be no extra privileges for any road user and RTC drivers in the form of extra loud Air Horns – ability to get away without penalty in accidents etc.
We request you to kindly remove the loud Air Horns on all RTC buses immediately.
