To add to the issue of seat allotment for advance reservation passengers, whenever I purchase the ticket online well in advance, it always lands up with a very inconvenient seat near the toilet. Wonder people booking well in advance are disadvantaged by this indiscriminate allotment. Suggest, railways could block lower birth for senior citizens and release atleast 50% of the reserved seats for picking their desired seats. This could be stopped say 20 days closer to departure. This will enable people who plan their booking well in advance to have their desired seats, just like some of the full service airlines. Hope some relief is obtained to the passengers who are booking well in advance. Thereby the footfalls to reservation counters can be reduced and passengers can make their convenient seats reserved without jostling in the crowded railway reservation counters.
