Peeragarhi Crosing is a nightmare for road users.
One of the cause is the narrow Railway Bridge on the Outer Ring Road between Peeragarhi and Mangolpuri (Delhi) crossings is at least 25 years old. The traffic on the section has increased hundreds of time. The width of the bridge (just exactly above the railway tracks) has remained same for all these years. Although width of the ramp road etc have been widened several times over last three decades. Many additions to this railway bridge have taken place such as the flyover over Rohtak Road on one side and Mangol Puri on the other side. The latest addition is the new Elevated corridor between Vikas Puri to Madhuban Chowk. As a result of all the free flowing traffic on this elevated corridor, the small section we are talking about (i.e. the old bridge just over the railway tracks) has become a bottleneck on this elevated corridor and there are regular traffic jams over this bridge. On top of that various vendors (selling helmets, water, paan-bidi etc) have settled their shops there as they have good sale with slow traffic or traffic jams. Their customers stop there, which adds to the bottleneck. It is high time that the railway bridge part is widened at point no. 1 as shown in the enclosed picture. In fact this widening should have been a part of the Elevated Corridor.
In addition to this, another work will help reduce traffic load on Peeragarhi Crossing. A small road & underpass (for cars, scooters etc) can be made between Mangol Puri Industrial Area Phase 2 and Paschim Vihar (as shown point no.2 in the picture). It will again drastically reduce load on Peeragarhi Crossing becasue those coming from Rani Bagh or Mangol Puri side can come to Rohtak road without coming via Peeragarhi thereby reducing congestion there.
