How common are molestation and sexual advances in public places (trains, buses, stations, crowded gatherings, etc) in India? What has been your experience?
. . - 27 % of the respondents have been subjected to or experienced close to them undergone Molestations. It doesn’t mean that there is a big % of culprits at it. It is just a small micro mini section of people who resort to this cheap thrill first. Then when left scot free will be emboldened to more dangerous onslaughts depending on the situation. * Only peer groups of youth with no occupation target women in public places, particularly in trains , buses. * Then there are work place exploitations of women. * Even women going to religious priests who call themselves as GODMEN exploit the hapless women. * Then there is targeting women in remote spots , or late in the nights . It is not difficult to prevent , though the affected don’t make a complaint as they will be afraid of serious consequences like acid throw etc. To prevent & nip in the bud, There should be a platform where complaints with full details can be requested from general Public , maintaining secrecy of their identity. Go on an investigation cum Rapid Action team in civilian dress on the particular Train or Bus . See for themselves what is happening and round of the gang. If this is done meticulously as soon as the platform gets complaints, the Molestations can be curtailed.
