Profiteering by Hospitals of Delhi

A social worker had pointed out that while he paid Rs 10 for a disposable syringe at a chemist shop, inside the hospital, he was charged Rs 19.50 for the same product. Upon investigation, the commission found the two guilty of following this unfair practice. We must all report such practices at private hospitals of Delhi so there is enough examples for CCI.

CCI has passed an order stating that it would investigate with special focus on products sold by super specialty hospitals to their in-patients. These are products that are not required on an “urgent basis for any medical procedure/intervention, or which do not involve any high degree of quality issue from the medical procedure point of view, and for the purchase of which the patients have the time and scope to exercise their rational choice to purchase such products from open market where such products may be available at lower rates”. The commission has directed the DG to complete investigation expeditiously, the order reads. more

This is nothing new and unknown to the corridors of power. Without the complicity of the top levels in the political and bureaucratic echelons, one cannot get prime land at damn cheap rates for starting "super speciality hospitals" and cannot run these either. More over if you are insured charges made to insurance company are more high. Ultimately you are loosing your insured amount for any future necessity. This all is going since years and no law so far has been seriously implemented to stop/control this. Hope this time it is ????????? more
Corporates treat hospitals as business entity. All actions of management point to profit, forget humanity. more
favour shall be returned in same way! more
I fully support efforts for case actions of unfair practices in private hospitals to CCI . Along side there is need to create awareness and transparency in hospital charges.
