Small Business Owner - Corruption Issues
With this post we would like to hear from small business owner/entrepreneur on the various forms of corruption issues they are faced with when setting up and when operating a business.
The objective is to bring about a common level of understanding for all stakeholders about the corruption challenges in doing business and then requesting actions from Government/Administrative Bodies to address it.

E governance will help in controlling corruption and increase efficiency. The formalities to be completed for getting any licence/approval/renewal, must be uploaded on the official website. The approval must be done within 30 days. The query if any, should be sent by email/sms. Official visits by touts/business should be banned. The visit by any official to the premises of businessman, must have prior approval of HoD and only a team of 2-3 officials should to this inspection job. Any every body like corruption and non-accountability, the State governance are reluctant to implement E governance. The Central Govt. should strictly link all aids to implementation of E governance for the benefit and common man and small businessmen. more

1. Whenever a license is to be taken new or renewed, it is not done without some corruption. 2. With confusing and cumbersome laws every time an inspection takes place the issue is settled through bribes. 3. In spite of security cameras present in Govt. offices, brokers are used to collect the bribe to move files. 4. Diwali is a major function where every Govt. servant however high or low demands and collects bribes. 5. Many establishments are forced to provide materials free to Govt. servants or they refuse to pay. 6. The Laws and regulations are interpreted by the Govt. officials in such a way that challenging them becomes costly and time consuming. more

Most startups or Small organisations do not have or cannot afford to hire professionals to obtain all statutory approvals and keep them valid.The officers harass and repeatedly delay or call for clarifications before according approval and it is here that corruption occurs.Let there be a time frame and clarifications can be sought only once within this time frame. more
