Who is to teach them this?
From Chennai, in south India.
I travel by train from or to Chennai from other southern capital cities mainly. By AC coaches.
Everytime, not only me, but many other passengers also complain that it is very cool, more often more than required cooling, making us feel very uncomfortable!
May be people from north feel comfortable only at such low temperature.
As an AC engineer I enquired with the staff handling AC in coaches. Their reply is, 'Sir the temperatures are prefixed and we can not/not authourused to change it'. The set temperature is around 23 deg C.
Which is simple nonsense to run at such low temperatures, at least in the south. May be we in south are more used to higher temperatures.
If you do not know, please read to find out what is the recommended temperature setting in all AC units in countries like Japan or China. It is 26 only.
This not only saves power, but also is more than sufficient.
If required, the setting can remain as low as the govt wants for about one hour from the time train starts: There are systems available to change the set value to a higher level after that. I am not saying go to 26 only. Go to 26 or 25.
At home, I use an inverter AC, WHERE I SET IT AT 27 deg C but change to a method by which it changes to 20 deg as set temp JUST for 20 minutes, and then automatically increases to 27 deg after 20 minutes.
I have no uncomfortableness. I need not use even any bedsheets or similar material.
Why set the temp low, and then cover yourself as your body is not comfortable?
