Till a few years ago, green chillies with reasonalble pungency were available in the market. They could be eaten raw with rotis and rice as well and used to be tasty. I think too much of tinkering by researchers with the stains of all vegetables for sake of increasing commercial value, we have lost many of the original stains. To day we have several sizes and shapes of green chillies in the market, but none with the taste of yester years! more
