10 year old diesel car ban
There was announcement some time back that diesel cars older than 10 years will be banned in Delhi. Is that the case or not?

Totally Irrational & illogical decision. They even don't know which type of vehicle is more polluting. Diesel is a clean fuel, it burns fully whereas there are residues from Petrol. Also, it is our hard earned money that we have put in. Is govt. going to pay for that every 10 yrs. If the vehicle is well under permissible limits of pollution check this should not be applicable. And, why only in NCR. Across the country there are many diesel vehicles which are running for more than 20 yrs. Does the govt know that 2 strokes engine pollute more than cars even, so why no ban on scooters or bikes. These guys really don't have any brains. more

Lets be clear how laws must be made, say, for Diesel Cars. Laws & rules should be made, say, limiting age of car as 10 years only for cars sold FROM the date of notification of the rule, and manufacturers should get a signed acceptance from buyer before sale of such a car. Else, all buyers, who buy in good faith, expecting permitted life of the car as 15 years or more, are being hoodwinked. If Govt is not able to look even 10 years beyond, this is the result, and repercussions from citizens will be immense. No whimsical & knee jerk laws just to show off "action" please. more

Surely 10 years is too short a period especially for privately owned diesel run vehicles which are scarcely used. It can be ok for commercial vehicles which are regularly nd over-used. NGT errored in banning all diesel run vehicles in a single stroke without going deep into the matter.. It appears manufactures lobby played major role nd govt did not resist in da absence of a strong private car owners lobby. Certainly, there is astrong case for approaching higher court against said order or filing a fresh PIL with supporting data for exemption of privately owned vehicles irrespective of diesel or petrol subject to regular fitness before insurance. Let people wake up nd raise their voice through social media nd forums like this. At the same time Local Circle Manager is requested to initiate a survey to seek public opinion nd launch a campaign on these lines. Experts in this field can also help in exposing the illegality of NGT order based on wrong opinions. more

This is totally knee jerk reaction from NGT Delhi.They can not simply generalize and put a ban on 10 yrs old diesel cars and 15 yrs Petrol cars .As long as you maintain your vehicle and keep the pollution level under control they should not have any problem By doing this lakhs of vehicle will be taken out of roads causing hard ships to people who are senior citizens mostly and who do not have any source of income This decision is ridiculous. more

As someone pointed out - it is a bunch of idiots sitting there working on such illogical proposals. It is NOT THE AGE OF CAR that determines if it is polluting. They have to understand that hard earned money is not for being thrown down the drain - just on a fancy idea of some fool. If a vehicle is not polluting why should anyone have an objection for it to ply. Or is there another tie up with manufacturers or recycling agents????????? Who knows.... more

Today I was reading in HT. The environmentalist have fought with govt at the time of allowing diesel cars in India that the fumes eminating from diesel is more dangerous. All over words diesel cars are rarely sold except very huge cars and diesel used is of very refined grade. In India however govt at that time did not agreed with environmentalist. Now after seeing the after effects and analysing the data NGT has ordered ban of vehicles after 10 years. I think it’s good order and we should respect it. more

I am very much against current government. Our PM moving only in foreign countries, instead of looking internal function of local public dealing departments. maximum work is pending, because now if you don,t give token money work is not done. I have proof. more

All Idiots should not be leaders in India. My car petrol run is just 15 years old and done only 65000 kilometers, there is no scratch, AC perfect, Tyres just new replaced two years back, I mean everything fine. And my registering Authority refused renewal. I request government to allow me to continue for another five years registeration. One should fight with government to let continue all cars deems fit. And find proper solution of Polution. If I am make PM for two months will try to change what is wrong.
For pollution most important is METRO train fare to be reduced tremendously so people not go by their own cars.
Lane system to be introduced so vehicle go fast instead of taking more than one hour for 20 kilometers. Instead of lane system, where ever traffic police find less traffic and vehicle moves more than 50 km Police stand hiding and stop vehicles and challan them. Instead of standing in more traffic and control their fast movement.
See all above points government should take some fast steps. more
