With NGT decision, you can forget further FDI OR EXPANSION in the Automobile sector and employment. Govt statistics state vehicular pollution is only 2%. The remaining 98% is because of dust on the roads/burning of waste material etc which is Govt responsibility. Any moron will tell you that first tackle the 98% of the problem and then run after the 2%. But our Honorable Swatantra Kumar came into this world with legs first. He is fighting the 2% first instead. Some logic. Secondly what is the guarantee that it will be successful. If not will NGT compensate for the loss of by the public by selling their cars in desperation/loss and the hard ship. They should start with the Govt. vehicles first. Privately, anybody driving an old 10 year car obviously denotes that he is financially week. From where will he buy a new car specially if one is retried. The Govt is passing the buck on the public instead of fixing the real issues such as providing fuel conforming to Euro 6 norms which requires heavy investment from their side and avoiding. We as citizens have been made charlies to bear the brunt. NGT should be pissed upon by the dogs. Even a donkey would have taken a better decision. more
If the Governments both State & Central are SERIOUS then they should collectively put their minds together on a War Footing and come out with a scalable Plan which should be implemented within 3 years. more
Just Banning will not do, What we require is a well thought out Comprehensive Policy involving all Stakeholders-- Citizens/RWA, State Govt, Centre/DDA/MCD and the Enforcing bodies like the Traffic Police & Transport Authority. The Objective should be to DeCongest Delhi and dissuade Delhites from adding on more cars to their personal belongings. I have a few suggestions which will face a lot of resistance...But Do we have a Choice?? 1. Plan and Focus on Mass Public Transport System to be introduced within 3 years. 2. Improve Last Mile Connectivity from Metro Stations. Get rid of all these Polluting Auto Rickshaws and replace them with Fully covered Air Conditioned Electric Mini Cars. The cost of these could be negotiated to the same as an Auto Rickshaw. These may be provided to existing Auto Rick owners with a subsidy. These new E Cars should be available on call even for a short distance Pick & Drop. 3. Create Covered Underground/OverGround Parking Space in every colony for Residents to park their cars. 4. No Cars/Vehicles to be parked on the Roads even at nights. Any Car found parked outside Residences should be charged Heavy Parking Charges on an hourly basis. If the resident is not complying add these as Compounding charges to the Property Tax. If not paid then deal with a heavy hand. 5.Limit the number of cars that can be registered against a particular address. 6. All New Car owners need to provide Documentary evidence of Ownership of Parking Space. If the Governments both State & Central then they should collectively put their minds together on a War Footing and come out with a scalable Plan which should be implemented within 3 years. more
There was many years of lead time. IIT Delhi had developed a system to add long life electric propulsion system to diesel vehicles.Unfortunately the Government did not allow its application in India. The result is that continuous imports from China of Battery Rickshaws had taken place. Similarly it is now learnt that Battery/Electric buses are going to be imported. The Cars could be converted but we lost the opportunity. China will come to fill the gap. It is no use to blame ngt. Best Regards, H.K. Agarwal 08826430489 . With due respect to the NGT, they seem to have ignored the thousands of Diesel Generators which are powering the huge offices and industries in Gurgaon,Manesar, Faridabad and other regions surrounding Delhi which am sure do contribute heavily to this Pollution much more than Diesel vehicles. Will the NGT issue similar directives there too. All the Offices, Industries & Condominiums in Gurgaon will come to a stand still...But Delhi'tes can sure Breathe much Better. more
