1381 FOG SAFE DEVICES ARE UNDER TRIAL ON INDIAN RAILWAYS.

Technological options are being pursued by the Indian Railways for prevention of accidents during conditions of poor visibility by installing notably Fog Safe Device, which is a Global Positioning System (GPS) based device installed to assist the Loco Pilot during poor visibility condition.

Currently, a total of 1381 Fog Safe Devices are under trial on Northern, North Eastern and North Western Railways in fog prone areas. In addition, Train Collision Avoidance System (TCAS), Train Protection and Warning System (TPWS) are also under various stages of trial.

The Indian Railways have decided to cancel 27 pairs of train services between 31.12.2014 and 15.2.2015 to ensure smooth operation of trains and safety of passengers during foggy condition. more

If suggestion/ complaint books are kept in each coach of the train, it will provide train/coach/service specific information for action. Corrective action will do gradual improvement and will make our Indian Rail better and better. Keeping in mind the need of poor passengers, number of general coaches should be increased in long route trains to avoid pathetic condition of unreserved passangers. more

With the kind of person Mr. Prabhu is I feel what Mr. Modi shall do is allow him to implement his ideas in action & not allow any TD& H to stall what is good for the coumtry & railways. Actually a certain group of dis grunted individuals in MOR are hell bent upon derailing the present rational patriotic group in power & there by help the lot whom the country has thrown out of power. Modernization is great.Modernization should be based on a) Technology available with developed countries.b) Trainings to avoid human errors as human error percentage is more.c) Human error is directly proportional to alcohol intake, this menace is to be checked at all field working levels.Necessary technical equipment for stoppage of the said menace are to be installed. more

pl go for the latest upgraded version/Cat.3/4/ etc.FSDs &TPWS even though it may cost little expensive. No compromise on pax safety pl. of course you are taking all kind of precaution including train cancellation, but if you put a latest devices, you can operate trains at least reduce cancellation period, operate trains & generate good revenue & recover the costs on FSDs. And meeting these challenges successfully make a high in one's career & team.
