18% GST ON SERVICES EXTORSION BY FM
Under the garb of tax reform named GST the FM has increased the rate of service tax to 18% from the present rate of 15% from 1st July 2017. This is going to result in price rise for services used by Aam Aadmi.
FM has given a statement saying there will be no price rise due to GST, which is false to his own knowledge.
GST was supposed to subsume various taxes VAT, Excise Duty, Customs duty, Sales Tax and all types of CESS, but unfortunately CESS are still there under GST.
It is not clear whether Octroi will be continued to be collected in Mumbai.
GST is being levied on Cooperative Housing Societies, which is unfair, as housing societies do not carry out any business, manufacturing, supply etc.
GST is supposed to be ONE NATION ONE TAX but the way it is being introduced in a hurry without proper application of mind is likely to cause avoidable hardship to common man.
What is more surprising that none of the Political Parties have raised their voice against a very high rate of 18% GST on services in place of service tax.
All elected representatives by citizens of India are requested to raise objection to this high rate of 18% GST on services. more

The Government has to differentiate the Service Sectors ranging from Hotel & Restaurants > to Banks keeping different Rates ending with 18% . Then only there will be the perfect Rating . more

It seems that Mr. Pande has not read the provisions carefully. The GST rate of 18% is subject to input tax credit, which one was not getting till now. Whatever GST you pay for furtherance of your services, will be credited to your account. Thus, the net effect will be less than 18% or may even be less than 15% depending on the nature of procurement and/or expenses you do. more
