The estimated cost of the New Capital project by AP is as per initial estimates around 1.15 Lakh crores (Approx $19 Billion). The Centre as estimated escalation costs which cud ultimately take the Project cost to 2.75 Lakh Crores (Approx $45 Billion).
70% of this cost to be borne by Centre, and balance 30% by state.
Why is the AP govt hell bent on building an entirely New Capital instead of choosing from existing cities in the State? Like, has been done by previous Newly Formed States like Jharkhand, Chattisgarh & Uttarakhand.
Most importantly, like, all the States created in the Indian Union since Independence.
Does it have anything to do with 80% of land around the New Capital zone/area being owned by a Single Community, to which AP CM Chandrababu Naidu belongs? Not speaking of huge and majority of contracts for building the city going to the same community Businessmen. Adding to that, the complete damage and destruction to Prime Fertile & Agriculture land, which is also called as the 'Rice Bowl of the Country'.
The Centre shud cancel this Project and rightly advise Chandrababu Naidu to choose and develop the AP Capital from any of the existing cities of AP.
Otherwise, every Indian from Kashmir to Kanyakumari is going to fund this Mega Corrupt Scandal, which will likely even hurt the BJP too, due to the acute involvement of Shri Venkiah Naidu. more
