2 days weekly hoidays for banks

Against the back drop of 5 working days' week for banks under consideration, I suggest the government should introduce a system of staggered working for all government offices including banks, with different days of 2-weekly holidays for different groups of employees in offices/banks. Such offices can then even work 365 days. If this is not acceptable, then the govenment should think of keeping all banks and offices open on all Saturdays and Sundays. Either of these measures, will also help the general public numbering more than 97% population, to visit the government offices and banks for their government related compliances, documentation, repeated KYC and banking work, without having to take a casual leave from work. Its a win-win arrangement for all. more

During this digital era and availability of ATMs all over, 5 days banking week won't make much difference or create difficulties except some delay in clearing of instruments by a day only on two occasions as the banks already remain closed on second and fourth Saturdays of a month. more
And, banking is not just withdrawing cash from the ATM. Whole economy and trade hinges in it. more
In that case, if the work load is so less, why not reduce their salaries ? They cannot compensate by working extra time evryday like they do now for alternate saturday off. That would be like asking a person to eat 4 days food in one sitting and remain hungry for the next 4 days. more
In fact, why there should be 5 day working? When salary is for full month, then it should be six day working for all Government offices. Staggered weekly offs is not a good idea because Government officials will make you run from pillar to post stating that concerned official is on weekly off making it difficult for public. more
Staggered holidays work in the Railways. Say, in a bank if cashier is on leave, it does not mean bank will not handle cash on that day. more
Efficiency, integrity & accountably among the Govt. & PSU employees is the need of the hour for better governance. more
These are the liberties which generate lust for govt job in the mind of every Indian. more
Private banks already working on Saturdays and Sundays in spite of holidays......so 5 working days will not make much difference, elderly should take online help from others more
Clearing house start working when all the member banks are present. more
This is not true. All banks have to follow the same holidays more
Private banks are following PSBs as far as holidays are concerned. In Chandigarh, HDFC and ICICI bank do not allow entry of clients before 10am and after 3pm. They ha e be one troublesome than PSBs. more
Up to beginning of lock down working hours of some of the Co op Banks in Mumbai wee 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekdays and also opened on Sunday and public holiday [with a few exception]. more
