I am sorry for my this late response. The law is very clear on price stickers: Stickers are not allowed. MRP is the price fixed by the manufacturers on the packaged commodities and cannot be defaced, deleted, or disguised or covered by stickers. The stocks in the market, after the same released by the manufacturers do not change their composition or value addition or packing. Therefore, there is no reason for change of MRP even after the change in taxes on sales. Sales tax is charged on MRP, additionally and has got to be mentioned separately under Right to Information under Consumer Protection Act 1986. I would like the Govt of India in the Department of Consumer Affairs to confirm my statement for aware of consumers at large. more  

phone numbers and e mail id of the concerned authorities to whom MRP related complaints can be given need to be displayed prominently at all relevant places. It is good at least now we are discussing these issues and we got a platform for this. Now there is a hope that things may be better tomorrow. more  

It seems that we have suddenly woken up to all these problems, which were not even dreamt of in the near past, not so long ago. We are all masters of voicing all our grieviances, but hardly any practical solutions. Do we want a police state where every thing is govt controlled. Free enterprise has worked in our country since times immemorial, and shall still thrive. Give practical problems and sensible practical solutions for such fora to be meaningful. Thanks more
