28% bracket GST

has items like cement, automobile parts, tyres, automobile equipments, motor vehicles, commercial air conditioners, yachts, aircrafts, aerated drinks, betting and sin items like tobacco, cigarette and pan masala.

We should discuss what out of this should be left in 28% and what should be brough to 18% and then LC should submit it to GST council for consideration. more

I don't know much about GST, except it is a tax. As the name says, it is levied on the recipient of goods and/or services by the provider of goods/and or services who, in turn, pay the government the collected taxes. As I understand, one of the advantages is that it eliminates multiple taxation by different government entities. This is definitely tax-process efficient. One thing I do not understand is why those who pay fines to a bank are taxed a GST. What goods/service the fine-payers receive? Any government will need tax-money for it to function. So, taxation of any kind is absolutely necessary. The level of taxation is subject to discussion. How the tax-money is also subject to discussion. I do not know how these healthy discussions are conducted in India. What I hear is that a lot of bribery and corruption are rampant in India; it is almost a way of life. Unless there is a movement to control/eradicate bribery and corruption, we will continue to have this kind of discussions of frustrations. We need someone to lead in this effort. May be Sri. Modi???If not, long live bribery and corruption!!! All the best. more

28% GST must be totally abolished barring 2-3 items which are harmful for humans. more
Really??? Do you really need a 28% bracket in the first place? means you pay 30% Income Tax and then use taxed money to buy goods any pay another 28% on the same? which earth are we on ? this is absolutely rubbish am surprised nobody ever comes forward and there is no opposition on this at all mostly because companies dont care the GST is being paid by the end consumer and the government does not care as long as they get some funds so that their ministers can travel by air and see the world.. I say we first debate what class travel should be entitled to ministers and if upper class why? why not working class! more
