For AAP Government whose hands are tied by Court, Center and LG besides many other agencies it has always been a challenge. If Kejriwal Government sacks an inefficient Official responsible for the drain desilting, immediately all agencies cited above would jump to his defense and blame AAP for being the culprit thereby allowing the negligent official to go unpunished. These people only hear one language....the same...treatment given to Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash. Has anyone heard any further of him? He was made a scape goat and once purpose of defaming AAP was done, he has been thrown to dustbin. more
The reason for this apathy is politicians are interested in getting votes, and bureaucrats behave like servants of these politicians and don;t thing long term? It is our mistake as public too, as we elect such leaders and start appreciating them over small works? Under current circumstances it will take few more generations for Delhi to become a world class city??? more
I remember this from 1958 I think when only 2-3 inches of the arch was visible and the entire Minto Bridge was under water. This must be the 10th time since then - my guesstimate. I think like all solutions by public works departments these are underfunded and underdesigned and probably some leakage of funds ensures that it is not going to work for long. It is also a long standing problem that when such work is done no money is every set aside for repairs and maintenance in the budgets. Along with the installation enough spares should be procured to last at least 2-3 years. more
The rulers interest is temporary . We see the real wprk on such projects starting only in the last 2 years of the Rule ,and Freebee introductions in the last year of the 5 year rule . When there is change of Government , the Bureaucracy is supposed to act as a Bridge between the 2 rules , so that with minimum waste of funds and time the the devlopement is carried forward. Both the pillars wait for the change to make a quick buck within the period. Tha results in the chronic ailments being pushed to the backburner each term . more
