Point taken. In other words, toll burden gets shifted. Somebody else will pay. What about "smooth flow" of traffic? Yesterday's evening experience belies our expectation. There was at least check for speedsters at toll both. Now free for all. We have no respect for traffic rules nor consideration for other road users. more

That's no excuse for keeping the toll, just to waste commuters precious time. Thousands of people travel to-fro DELHI-GGN. Also, came to know U-turn for Ambience was closed and people have to take U-turn from Rajokri. One issue resolved another created. more

The toll gate at Sirhaul had become a pain and deserved to be removed. But the administration has taken a very simplistic approach. I don't agree to the thought that this will shift the queues to Kherki Daula, since that toll gate is already there and caters to traffic going to Manesar and beyond. At least the traffic to and from Gurgaon will be spared the burden of long waits. But then, the road suddenly becomes 32+ lanes at Sirhaul, only to narrow down again. Knowing our drivers, this will invite bouts of madness. Among the things that are badly needed on Gurgaon Expressway is the enforcement of the rule of no 2-wheelers; banning the slow moving cargo 3-wheelers on the expressway; creating a rule of both maximum and minimum speed limits (we find every day that cars and 3-wheelers just coast along at 40 kms/hour on all lanes thus slowing down all the traffic); and enforcement of lane discipline. Lane discipline means trucks and buses on the left most lanes, and 2-leftmost lanes during trucking times. And cars on the two rightmost lanes. Car users have to be educated to drive within minimum and maximum speed limits. more

Sadly, we have no civic sense or consideration for others, which are the hallmarks of a civilized society. We Indians are perhaps the most rude, callous, uncaring and indisciplined species on this planet. Sent on my BlackBerry® from Vodafone more
