It is difficult to rate all thebtrains. But experiences can be shared. I travelled from Chennai to Aluva in Trivandrum Mail Sleeper class on 26.5.16. Sad to note (a) transgender freezing passrngers was there (b) other beggers and vendors were there but much less (c) coach (S12) was occupied by dozens of migrant workers occupying every inch of space available. With days of hardships they and their belongings raised an unbearable stench (d) toilets were cleaner, even with these people and they blocking it but WC seat cover was horrible . some taps were visibly new but the flush and old taps were continuously leaking. They were too hard too. Leaking taps in S2 in Chennai Mail on 39/5/16 too. RPF men were seein hurriedly passing through the coaches, in groups, not showing any sign of checking or looking around. (,e) people dispose of garbage through windows. more
I have traveled from kannur to kachiguda by train no 17605 on 11 5 2016., on 3rd Ac Compartment was clean and attenders were good. But there was no pantry car and private vendors were looting people. A bottle of water rs 25. Coffee or tea served in 25 ml cup instead of 50ml, that too half the cup charging rs 10.. Food served was very bad. Biggest suffering was long stoppage of train, some times more than one hour where nothing is available and the outside temperature is un bearable for none ac passengers. It took 30 hours to cover that trip, where return trip take 26 hours with long stoppage. Please dont treat this as an orphan train. more
On a solar train there no further expene for next 5 years or until the battery has to be changed more
I wander is it possible to start solar trains in India. A train is always exposed to sunlight. Each compartment can hold at least 10 kv solar panel on top and its battery inside. An indipend souese of power to each compartment. 20 compartments produce 200 kv. which can be connected to few motors in the engine which cab started partially or totally as per the load. It can save the expense of installing overhead line and the production of electricity. It can save the diesel and its polution. In case of powerloss during rainy season, such areas can be provided with super reharger to compansate the pwerloss. A light weight engine and coaches improve the effeciency. I am not a qualified person, just wondering. more
