a very good list for suggestions but very very difficult to implement by the present railway management because of the prevailing rampant corruption in the railways. dinesh mathur more

At platforms there could be vacuum suction points for draining off the waste. This will ensure clean platforms (ii) Conversion of first compt into a pantry like the ones in the aircraft will help in providing better service and more hygienic food. Pantry could have heating equipment taking supplies from the turning wheels or the solar panels on the roof and should have stainless steel panelling - point appears to be far fetched but a pilot project could be tried out (iii) each comptt should have a portable motor driven mopping machine to save on labour and expedite cleaning process " View/Comment Reply to this email to post a comment. I really appreaciate the concern of Shri Murthyji. The condition in the General Compartment is very pitty. -------------------------------------------- On Fri, 18/7/14, B S MURTHY wrote: Subject: Commented on "1. But it is observed that during the last few days, the Circle Members have been discussing much about the reserved compartments on various aspects including towels, napkins etc. It is also our responsibility to look into the fate of unreserved passengers who are limited to just 4 bogies generally in express trains, at 2 bogies either end of the train. They have to run helter skelter on platform to find their end bogies. Especially, during night times, the bogies resemble like dead bodies fallen in the war field. There is no space to keep our feet to move within the compartment either for boarding, or alighting, or even to go to toilets. The toilet areas are also filled with people or luggage. It is like a punishment to board trains in general compartment. For short distances of upto 100 to 150 KM travel, they can not afford to travel in reservation system, nor the tickets are so easily available. Is it that they have done any sin in this birth or previous birth? Let us not forget the common man (or poor man) in our society. Even TTEs do not dare to enter general bogies to check the tickets, because they are afraid of public abuses. In course of my travel some times, I have seen, the TTEs / RPF persons (in civil dress) collecting their monthly fixed bribes from the petty vendors who were travelling regularly for their livelyhood without any season tickets. I fully agree on the comments of Mr Nagendra and Mr vinod. Passengers have to face miserable situation to get an enter through door ,to stay inside train and also to depart from an unreserved compartment Alternative arrangement for passengers schedule for short journey is to introduce more number of local trains. Local trains timing should be made in such a way that there is no much wastage of time of passangers for bording to interconnecting trains. more
