Following things should be done with immediate effects in order to control the prices of Vegetables
1.Increase the cold storage/ storage spaces/places in centre as well as in states in order to store essential vegetables when they are produced in plenty due to good amount of rain.
sometimes we are not in a position to store all these vegetables due to lack of storage spaces/places and due to that we generally throw out these vegetables due to non availability of storage spaces
Price rise is also due to middle man
& it may be controlled with the good administrative capability of Govt.
Law should be made to control the prices of common vegetables like potato, onion, tomato etc etc
This is high time when govt has to take serious steps on it otherwise same situation will be occurred every time & Govt will be making the excuse on it without making any efforts to resolve it more

Increasing shelf life will make these costlier, only to facilitate the rich who can afford, hence not a very good idea for price control. While retail price is shooting higher and higher, our farmers still get negligible return. more

Mukesh Gargji, potatoes, tomatoes & onions are not green vegetables.These are the vegetables which are also use by BPL & common man.My point of view in the whole episode is that we have to learn from the past & makes the things better for the present & future. more

Basant is I am 50% agree with you that price rise is due to middle men. In most cases Price rise is artificial/man-made by these corruption favoring politician to get benefited their near and dear or kin and kid. There will be no such price rise if our leadership take concrete step with honest will to do some thing for the nation/society like Mr Kejriwal who not only said/promised but also proved that every thing can be done with honest will to do some thing. Now other countries like US is laying red carpet for our PM Mr Modi for taking more benefit on FDI in defence etc. This will not beneficial for all of us. Why our Govt is not doing any job for getting back the huge black money back to the nation as promised? Why not taking concrete step to get black money in the nation? Why the culprits or income tax thieves are not put before justice? How the leaders who win the election get millionaires/billioners? In that cases Income Tax Deptt or ED slip with deep nose? How they make our system mockery to earn/collect/hide such huge income? A normal Govt employee like Secretary/businessman or farmer does not become such rich in a such short span of time like politicians and their kids/kins? Take an example of Mr Giriraj of Bihar from whom house a case was reported for theft and thereafter first of all he refused to accept the recovered money, after some time, he said the money belong to his cousin. brother and so on. This is open mockery of system. Income tax is deducted from the salary of an Govt employee but who will deduct the tax from such corrupt people who are provided umbrella protection by the head of Govt? Now our India is in the hands of Almighty God. more

Basant ji you are far far away from the reality. 1. Green vegetables can't be stored. 2. As everyone say middle man, basically they are back bone of this system. No policy can manage the retail price of vegetables. Do you know that prices vary as per buying capacity. ...... more
