Fortified food is need of an hour as there are number deficiencies are being noticed as per medical surveys and it is a better option to consume fortified food rather than taking food supplements or medicines.
Pl be sure that food marked as Fortified must contain that much of nutrients failing which the purpose would be defeated as in case of Organic & Gluten free as on today, FBOs falsly highlights the normal products As ORGANIC or GLUTEN FREE without any check from FSSAI. Even the laboratories do not analyse the food for nutritional value and how a consumer would ensure about the fortification. more

Fortified Food!!!!!!! Do we know what is fortified food and how it is made? Fortified food is made by adding inorganic compounds (can also term them as material found in supplements). Now why there is a need to fortify our food.... we need to fortify our food because our food has become nutrient hollow....... and why did this happen? ..... It happened because our farmers started producing food from chemical fertilizers and pesticides. How can we produce Nutrient dense foods? Our farmers have to be retrained reeducated to follow the age old practice of farming where organic materials were used, biomass, animal dung, were allowed to decompose in the soils this decomposition resulted in putting life in the soil. Soil was full of life good bacterias, good fungi and their predators. Infact there use to be another world beneath our feet.... and these bacterias, fungi and micro arthropods, protozoas all formed a food web in the soils these synthesised the natural compounds in the soils and made it plant available.......... and thus food produced from such agriculture were nutrient dense..... People were healthy then. I would suggest PUT LIFE BACK IN SOILS and SOILS WILL PUT LIFE INTO US. more
Many products are with use of spoiled and insecticide Cashew , Badam , Glucose and others with spoiled Tomato , Onion etc., vegetables . None is taking interest including fssai and the State Food Departments . The lapse and opted lethargy in imposing IPC on Public health and Safety by Police and law & Order in General is the root cause while the Central Government befitted with non Centralization of Policing like Military in the Country . more
Believe in natural food eating and not fortified food. The amount of money that is spent on buying fortified food can easily be spent on fresh food. We need to get back to traditional way of eating, what our family, mom and grand mom provide us. Understanding season wise consumption of different food also helps. more
Fortified Foods should be the last resort. Many of the times we may end up eating additional targeted micro-nutrient than what is required. It may also lead to complications like in the case of oil soluble vitamins, if present in huge quantities. A balanced diet with varied constituents including millets (often despised now) should be the solution. I request all members to not fall prey to some of the advertisement gimmicks. more
