First having X-ray of Knees to check what is the actual issue, secondly go thru physiotherapy or yogic exercise to strengthen knee. Body weight control, daily walking and daily exercise is the basic solution. Need to consult any trained physio for this more  
Many a aged person can not do Yoga,then what is the suggestion?Most of them are over weight. more  
Not only aged persons, many young & middle aged persons don't even walk during a day. As a result, both hand & leg muscles become stiff and slowly various diseases like stiff neck, frozen shoulder etc. develop. For all of them, I suggest that first start brisk walk in the early morning of covering 4 km in 40 minutes. This will slowly release muscles to normal level. Thereafter start Yoga under an expert teacher, who will help hand/leg movements correctly with correct breathing. There will be difficulties at the beginning, but keep a conviction/determination that he/she has to make it perfect. By practising Yoga, slowly body shape/weight will come down & various illness will disappear. Also Yoga will increase body immunity against various diseases. more
