It is not poor enforcement.Actually there is no enforcement at all. more  

Unless someone is affected due to the medicine or there is a drastic bad effect due to the quality of the medicines no body even bothers to read what is written on the label. Who bothers about the font size? When no one reads who will know what is written on the label? Also the language written or the clauses mentioned go above the heads of a common man. Even if it is forced by the Enforcement Directorate to increase the font size there is always excuse of the size of the bottle, total matter to be printed which includes Licence No., Date of Manufacture, Expiry Date, Main Composition of the material, Storing conditions & so on. The honest & true Manufacturer will never shy to submit the details in bold with proper readable font size but who is always afraid of getting the wrong things exposed will write in unreadable font size. Whether the rules we should know or not is our own question. No one has forced you not to know the rules or no one has denied you the freedom to know the rules & take action against the defaulters or people not following the correct system? more  

Poor enforcement - is the topic less talked, better it is. Whether it is food, medicine, or any other department. We always talk of corruption but keep on develop systems for encouraging it. Time is the best healer ? more  

The issue is that we consumers are unaware of the rules ourselves - if we're aware of the rules and were to provide a copy / original label in violation to the concerned authority they would be constrained to take action. Could someone post a link to the relevant rules here ? more
