Issues related to Standards are of mutual interest and benefit of all the parties involved. The foremost importance goes to the requirements and satisfaction to the Customers/ Consumers and the second priority goes to the Producers/Manufacturers and the role of Regulators is utmost importance from compliance point of view and practicality from science and technology point of view covering health and safety considerations. The people working with BIS, if appropriately qualified by qualification and attitude, can always look from the view point of all the parties associated in the matter. Once BIS has given an appropriate and analytical considerations on a particular subject matter, a brief information in bullet points limited to one or two pages, at the most could be circulated for review and feedback by the consumers/customers and the manufacturers/producers. The final standards should be implemented religiously by one and all keeping a provision of improvements, as and when it is necessary. Copying the standards from other documents preferably be avoided by all concerned. more

BIS :I would like to join the BIS circle. First suggestion. The passenger lifts do not have any glass window and any opening for see through and for fresh air. in case the lifts get stuck for long time the consequences will be disastrous. Any one in a stuck lift will get terribly afraid in a dark enclosed container. Every one must be able to see and get heard in such a case. Also useful for ladies in the lifts in case of any molesting. more
