let us work upon one issue of shifting our focus from literacy to the programs of real education
we all know that in schools literacy is going on and not real education
even after teaching civics for three years in classes vi to viii, there is no civic sense in people of north india
even after teaching disaster management again for 3 years, there no knowledge to tackle it
hence we teach and learning in concept mode, we live in problem mode, we work in rules mode and not in resolution mode
hence i appeal all of you to take up one agenda program of shifting our focus from literacy to the real education more

Concur with what stated by Dr B Singh Real education comes from application of knowledge Earning experience based on attained knowledge opens doors for real knowledge Lear whatever during formal education is almost, obsolete in comparison to what has been going on in real life Of course, fundamentals assist everyone to grasp application based learning Continuous professional development is right process to learn more & more rather than having credentials from Institutions or universities Problem solving is basic requirement that comes from combination of educational knowledge & experience based earned know how more

You need to define - what real education means in your terms. Literacy is one aspect which is very essential for the society to develop as we have seen in the WEST. What is needed is to inculcate the spirit of humanity, spirit of nationalism and spirit of community living among people. Civics as a subject which is taught according to the syllabus is different than the civic sense in real meaning. Even with the same books on civics, it also depends upon the teachers how it is taught to young children in class Vi to Viii. I have not been a teacher , but has seen and knows many teachers in the West, how they teach the same subject. more
