Though the odd/even rule is very useful for controlling pollution and de-congesting the roads, it is leading to lot of hardships. For example, I had to pay Rs 208 for a journey of 6.25 km using Ola cabs to reach my workplace (GTB Hospital) from Rajendra Nagar on 9th February. On 11th February no cab was available on Ola/Uber and for 20 minutes not a single auto was available. In such scenario, I recommend that office goers should not have to pay the toll tax of Rs 65 twice daily for going to work in Delhi and NCR autos should be available at auto-stands at various places including Rajendra nagar, Sahibabad. more

Practically speaking, odd-even traffic control will certainly put off individual convenience of own vehicle, and will offset both time as well as cost management apart from ease of commutation, yet given long term benefits of minimising pollution levels, traffic congestion, less travel time besides host of environmental benefits in time to come, I personally feel we shud conciously self-adopt the odd-even rule as a responsible citizen. Infrastructure and support public transportation like metro, autos, taxis, and last mile commutations like e-rickshaws need to develop over sustainable time period, to act as a coupling force alongwith pollition minimising measures for a better breathing air in our city area. thanks more

cycling could be a viable option first if the roads are friendly enough for cyclists and second if the distance is maybe lesser than 10 kms. its not for people who travel minimum 50 kms one side for work. cabs are just minting money specially with people who are staying in connecting cities where last mile connectivity is a problem. more
