I think touts will still be active ad usual. Try some new technology so that touts will not be able to fool the system. more

Doubling cancellation charge will simply double the touting money. more
If Ur going to follow this sort of unholy practices to increase the revenue the day is not far off, the public will give a fitting reply like given to the last government. more
Gautam Chaudhury The railways are doubling the cancellations charges. One of the assumptions is that it would not allow the touts to take advantage. Railways appear to have arbitrarily decided on the above isssue. One wonders then what is the use of this 'circle'? I am now wondering that the railways have decided to increase their revenues - and in this site may be a good excuse - as we do ot knoe what the majority opinion is. Then again in the way things are running one is rather discouraged to express views that are not in congruence with what the people in the government thinks. First of all when one books in advance - the money also generates income (interest) then again you pay again for cancellation (not a small amount). The ogic that this would discourage touts is vague one. I am expecting mote ways of increasing revenues from the passengers. Why beat around the bush - increase it (obviously after the elections). more
It is understood that ticket cancellation charges are being doubled which is very much improper. Anybody cancels due to some unexpected reasons. Anyhow railways do not loose much as always wait listed passengers are there. Reasoning is helping passengers and avoiding unscrupulous buyers is not at all correct. In any case rlys not loosing money as someother would purchase the tkt or confirming W/L passenger. Railways to think again on this decision. more
