Mam, As you know many traders are giving discounts on season sale on their MRPs. The traders started a practice to charge VAT after giving the discount of MRP. Since MRP is inclusive of VAT and hence the discounted prices on MRP also includes VAT. The additional charging of VAT on the discounted prices was illegal as we have a feeling that one of the VAT component was being pocketed. Based on our taking up issue with Govt. of India, the State government have been requested to take action against such illegal practices. I hope the issue is clear and shall provide you any additional information if you desire so. more
