Mr. Datt, I absolutely agree to your comment as I have not seen if any Dog can breed 100 puppies in his life span, and more over they have very poor survival rate. I know one Dog and have seen in last 10 years not even one of his offspring has survived more than a year. So the people with inhuman tendencies are just creating false fears and they fail to understand that all these friendly animals are part of our ecology and nature. If we start destroying them the next will be humans on the list. more

Madam, 60000 puppies in the lifetime of a dog is not possible. A female dog goes into heat twice a year. Assuming a breeding life of 10 years that works out to 6000 puppies a year per female. Not likely. In our colony of about 600 odd houses we don't have a stray population of over 50-60 dogs. I have been living here since 1992 and I have not seen the population increase very much especially not in the proportion that you are suggesting. Somehow they seem to be constant. Maybe the number stabilizes at the number the area can support or territorial requirements or something. Dog specialists would be in a better position to comment on this. Perhaps your source of information is incorrect. A lot of information floating on the internet is put out by biased parties and can be quite misleading at times. A lot of us assume that if the info is found on google it is correct. The objective should be to rationally address human concerns about stray dogs and what can be done in an effective and humane way. more
