98% mangoes in Delhi are cancerous
Our LG, Our CM, our food inspectors are all failing us. I had a 45 minute chat with a fruit vendor today. Any mango that looks yellow is carbide ripened according to him. Not ethylene, not sachet, carbide the carcinogenic.
I suggest every member of the local circles the so called proudly active junta of Delhi demand that their fruit wala supplies them mango not ready to consume (which will take 4-8 days to get ready at home) such that they start stocking these mangoes.
People who were so called healthy in my family with no bad food habits are dying at the age of 65 of cancer, kidney disease.
And fssai officals you should seriously leave your ac offices and go on the streets of delhi. Do something. Just making your rules does nothing in this country. Clean up delhi of carbide ripened fruits and then ensure no supply of calcium carbide reaches fruit vendors. more

Your statement of 98% may seem to be exaggerated, but it is true that we get very few tree-ripened fruits in the market. it is all the more true about mangoes and pears. But the question is "How do we address this issue? Can we enforce some state-run certification organisation to sample test every orchard produce" That may be an extensive laboratory measure, viewing the massive quantum to be screened for certification of carcinogenic free quality. But it may be worth considering, keeping the health concern in perspective. more

1. fssai has replaced FPO. fssai is here to prevent those without fssai stamp/label from selling eatables. How may a milk shake bear a label?!! It implies that small-level vendors and farmers will be default be ousted and killed or starvation. 2. Carbide is a cancerous chemical. Read about Union Carbide; 1. the company which killed hundreds of its owner Indian workers in Bhopal conciously; 2. the company whose Eveready cells are still being marketed and sold in India. more

All the authorities in the country including CBI, CVC, DoPT, FSSAI & others have sold out their ZAMEER, soul etc. and please do not expect anything from them. more

You have raised a genuine health issue but I wonder if anything can be done. People's health is fast detereorating. I have personally seen that. I appreciate you for speaking about an issue of common concern affecting the entire country's general wellbeing. more

Ma'am SHIKHA, I appreciate your effort. We have to wait for the action these authorities take. I may add here that such unfair practices (use of harm full chemicals or gases or colours etc.) are being used all over the country for most of the vegetables, fruits, cereals, pulses and also edible oils. It has been shown number of times on Television, but, it seems that no stringent actions are being taken by concerned officials against such anti human activities and also against persons who are responsible for them, be they are traders, farmers or FSSAI officials. I hope concerned officials will take note of it and take necessary steps to eradicate such menace. more
