A demand for professionally run hospitals
A lot of questions that are raked up every time there is a tragedy and then life goes on. The blame game starts and a few heads roll and life goes on. The media goes into a frenzy. every channel has some 10 people all shouting and screaming and getting no where and the TRP game starts and life goes on.
STOP. Please stop! Is this what we have come down to after 70 years of Independence? Can we please stop and take stock of how we have set our standards so low that we are fine to loose our children, our families, our country and we will still not raise our standards. Because we are ok with OK...average, chalta hai, OK.
Our public hospital systems are the pits and we know it, we have known it for 70 years. They are smoldering, disease infested, corrupt places that have very little to do with cure and treatment and more to do with being money machines.
Can we break down the problem into different categories and put down suggestions on improving the system?
Areas of concern :
Government :
- Disinterested
- Corrupt
- Administered by people with no experience or knowledge about the medical system or hospital management.
- Illiterate
- Vote bank politics
- No value of life
- Compensation does not come out of their pocket so that is the easiest solution.
- No 5 - 10 year plan on making it a workable and effective system.
- No accountability
Medical institutions / colleges
- Churn out doctors like mice

- No sense of hygiene or sanitation
- Unprofessional
- Lack of ability or interest in the job
Patients and families

- Destroy equipment and infrastructure valuable to so many patients lives
- Pay money to get out of turn favours
- Use the hospital like a hotel with little or no regard for hindering patient treatment.
- Disregard for sanitation and hygiene
- Disruptive and irresponsible
Solutions
Complete overhall of our medical system and how it functions. No quotas or reservations for Medical staff - we cannot play with lives. Time we stopped playing Russian roulette with the lives of our citizens to gain some political millage through reservations. Only deserving candidates should be allowed to join medical college and become doctors and nurses.
Please let us focus on solutions and hopefully we will have enough buy in for this to be presented to the govt to take up seriously. more
