Refer abv dtls. I reckon organ donation is legally permitted ONLY to and from close blood relations. Further, now a days, techniques are available - albeit slightly costly - whereby Surgeons can transplant liver from other blood groups. My bro in law has O+ blood grp. He is suffering fm Hepatitis C and needs liver transplant. About THREE years bacl Apollo and Medanta surgeons had had given 6- to 8 months for doing so else, they said, it will prove fatal.Fortunately, he is under treatment at Metro hospital Noida and his condition has stabled.
