A query regarding deduction of TDS by insurance Co.
I surrendered my son policy to Aegon Religare. They cut TDS as I was not having PAN card. I acquired later and ask Co to update my card No with d amount deposited in TAX dept or provide info about the TDS deposited in TAX dept. They refused to do so. So What can be do to make sure that my money is gone to Govt. more

Brij Gupta's assessment is accurate - you cannot obtain a TDS Certificate / TDS Credit under 26AS for a subsequent PAN. The Insurance Company will give you a Statement showing deduction of Tax on a Non-PAN basis of 20%. Pls use that to avail credit of Tax paid in your Tax Return and hope to get a Refund when they send you a Demand Notice - through the scrutiny process (since this claim will not show in the 26AS). There will be a substantial run-around with the Tax Authorities on this before this will be granted - but it will be granted. No process has been defined to take care of this. more

If Both the alternatives advised by Mr. Goyal does not work and the Insurance Co. don't oblige your request, you can seek the relief based on the the communication made to you by the Insurance Company. more

The advice given by Mr. Ravinder Goyal is correct. You can claim refund of TDS by filing your income tax return on the basis of 26AS statement. more

Mr,Solanki the TDS if deposited by the Insurance company with the I.Tax Deptt.will be reflected in your 26AS statement which can be checked on I.Tax departments website:incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.If it is not reflected there then ask the Insurance co.with a copy of your PAN card,in writing, to file an amended TDS 26AS statement .I hope this way your problem will be solved. more
